‘Rachel’ to Mother Goose

Owner Jess Jackson confirmed today that Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra will start next in the Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park on June 27.

“Rachel is rested, healthy and ready to run,” said Jackson in a statement announcing the move. Rachel Alexandra, who breezed six furlongs in 1:12 at Churchill Downs on Monday morning, is expected to arrive at Belmont on Tuesday, June 23.

The Mother Goose will be Rachel Alexandra’s first start against fillies since winning the Kentucky Oaks by an easy 20 1/4 lengths. Nominations for the race closed with 24 named, including Nassau County Stakes winner Flashing.
